the weekend

Yea, the weekend's here. The weekends use to mean that I had the pleasure of spending two days with my wonderful husband and son, and every other weekend my step son. We usually rented a movie Friday night and had frozen pizza for dinner. Saturday we would go for a drive or grocery shopping and play games in the evening. Sunday was morning Mass and brunch with friends.

When my husband first left for Iraq, the weekends were pretty lonely. Now they mean, headed out to some friends house. They are a wonderful home schooling family. They have 7 wonderful kids. The oldest is 15. Their youngest is the same age as my toddler about two years old. I spend Friday through Monday or Tuesday with them. I am so thankful for my community of Catholic friends. They've been such a blessing to my family. Especially since my husband has been gone. It makes the weekends a little easier. William has such a good time playing and running around with the other kids.

Tomorrow, we are having a women’s prayer day. Most of the men are on retreat this weekend, so we will be praying a rosary for them in the morning. The rest of the day will be just hanging out and helping each other with the kids.
Sunday we will attend Mass together and hang out afterward. I love it when we all get together.

I also have a house guest. My friend Katie. She just married a friend I was On the REACH Team with. (REACH is a traveling youth ministry team) Her Husband is a youth minister and has a Confirmation retreat this weekend, so she is hanging out with me. Yea!
